Classic Boxing

This bunny needs to post this. It's round 9 of an epic struggle between Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward that formed the first instalment of a trilogy between the pair.

Somehow it makes Round One of Hagler vs Hearns look like a couple of kids taking a trip to Disneyland. Not for the faint-hearted.

RIP Arturo and thanks for being you. Micky, kudos for your massive contribution to an epic series of fights. Take care and I'll catch you soon.

  1. Beautiful and terrible. I suggest tickets to boxing events should be raffled, and the winner allowed to step on the ring and get some of his money back in kind, from either of the contendents.

  2. Hi Abel - Gatti is the most remembered, but both of these guys were real warriors.

  3. Yes, I love a bit of boxing myself, from a distance! We all love the guys who give it all, whether it's boxing or music or whatever; we all remember those guys who put heart and soul into what they do, whatever they do. I love 'Body and Soul' which is a John Garfield movie about boxing and was the film Martin Scorsese told Robert de Niro to watch to prepare him to act in 'Raging Bull.'

It is a wonderful sport but a bloody one; and are we, or they, the barbarians?
