Princess

Nobody knows
the content of your head
And you dare not share
the company you'd like in your bed
You go to check the time
You're nervous, you were always shy
You say "if he comes out tonight
then you know what, so might I"

Nobody knows
the innermost thoughts inside
They wouldn't understand
so it's the sort of thing you hide
Your dad's an ex-soldier
and he's no enlightened soul
Deep down he's colder
than where penguins play on the furthest pole

Twenty-three pints later
you know you'll fight to restrain your paws
Baby, every man needs a princess
and you just wish he was yours

Nobody knows
the narrative of your dreams
And you hide it well
you're like your friends or so it seems
They look out for you
c'mon they're only trying to help
But they're really a hindrance
cos they don't know you want something else

Twenty-three pints later
you know you'll fight to restrain your paws
Baby, every man needs a princess
and you just wish he was yours

But nobody knows
nobody knows
nobody knows
No, nobody knows
